GSXR 1000 K8 Loom

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Awesome :) thanks for letting me know!

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
O.K. Engine data in WRT working & can be stopped & re-started no problems without leaving & re-starting program. EE engine data & data logging both work after the stupid operator opened the correct bin file!

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Ok, interested to hear your results, also please check the "Data Logging" section in ecueditor to see if it connects ok for you in there.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
 Found out why EE wouldn't read engine data. Operator error! Will tinker some more tonight.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Won't connect with Ecueditor at all now. WRT still only works on first view in engine data. The only way it will read if engine is running & then open program then engine data.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Was this with the latest version? are you able to connect ok multiple times with ecueditor?

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Engine data will only connect once & then the program must be closed & re-started to connect again.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
I'll try that tonight.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
It starts & runs O.K. When engine data is working it shows the clutch is IN. I've wired in a switch for the clutch, but it make no difference on or off in engine data. In neutral ? Have you tried it with a gear engaged?

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Did you remove a small 4pin plug with 4 black wires gong to it and a white plastic cap? One that it is near the Tip over sensor. This is where the genuine Suzuki alarm plugs in, and the cap is not just a cap,but it has a small jumper inside which jumpers 2 of the 4 wires. If that jumper is removed the bike won't start, but I don't remember if the fuel pump will cycle or not. But check it put anyway :D

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
When I get the engine data to work the clutch is indicating in. I've got a switch wired in for start, but it makes no difference if it's turned off on the data screen. Will this put it into neutral map? I think I need to earth black/yellow on startup & then open the circuit so it doesn't run in neutral map. In Advanced I have MS1 ticked & I notice I can't change the map select from 0 to 1 in the Bin file Ignition map configuration. I have disconnected the earth to switch it to MS1. MS0 will be used later for a wet weather map once we've got it running properly.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Windows 7 should be fine, thats what i use to develop the software on. If you are having problems connecting try closing the engine data window then re-open.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Not sure what's going on. It doesn't connect every time. Now I can't get EE engine data to connect. :? I'm running Windows 7 on the laptop. Any COM port issues with that?

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Logbox must be set to engine data then start engine & it will read. If you stop data recording & try to re-start it will not read while engine running. Message in left lower corner- Configuring COM port/End engine data.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
I'll have a look when I get home tonight.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
We have recently done some updates to the engine data in WRT as it was not working for some customers, when you get a minute would you mind trying engine data in WRT and let me know how it works for you. Cheers

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Ready for the dyno, I think. Booked for 04/11. According to the Zeitronics the AFR is now around 13. Logbox works, can flash ECU, but the engine data doesn't work but will in EE. Will have to read the instructions better!

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Probably easier to hook it back up.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
We don't use the cooling fan as well, so is that removable? No,when the fan relay is disconnected the Fi light blinks. You can try to do a custom Busa .bin with K8 1000 maps and then you can disable it,busa bin has that option.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Looks like I was a bit gung-ho on removing wires! Now the fuel pump doesn't cycle when powering up. If I earth the yellow/black wire at the relay plug, the pump works, but doesn't cycle. Hmmmmmm! Been checking the wiring diagram but can't see what I've stuffed up. Does it need to cycle? Will it be fine just running with direct power?

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Got the K8 dash yesterday, out to the workshop tonight to plug it in, plug in the WR interface & logbox, flash the ECU & see what happens! 8-)

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Yes you should be ok to remove the ISC valve if you have disabled the FI code in advanced settings.

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
If the ISC valve is disabled in settings , it should be OK if I remove the wiring from the loom? We don't use the cooling fan as well, so is that removable?

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Well, the season is over for this year, so this weekend the bike gets a start with fitting K8 ECU & loom. GSXR 1000 K6 in LCR Roadrace Sidecar. Stripping the loom to minimum. Fitting K6 injector plugs to K8 loom. The STV's have already been removed from the throttle bodies. Any way to disable them on the ECU side of things so I dont get FI light?

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Hi Duncan, In my car harnesses I completely remove the clutch switch wires from the ECU, As you have probably noticed the black/yellow wire goes from the clutch switch to the starter relay, The yellow/green comes from the start button and also goes to the start relay, Both of them tee off and go to the ECU, If you ground the black/yellow it will put the ECU in to the neutral map, So it has to be a temporary ground like the clutch switch, In a race car its not as easy to put in a switch as it is on something with handlebars so I remove them completely to prevent the neutral map thing from happening, As far as the side stand switch goes, I completely remove the fuse/relay block, But if you don't do that you should be fine just by jumpering the two wires George

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
What do I do with the clutch switch wiring? Do I need to use a relay as I've seen mentioned in other forums? I'm going to run a Dyna ARC CDI with launch control using an MPS clutch lever assembly for that. Does the sidestand wiring need anything special doing or can it be just bridged?

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Thanks George, Got the email, just thinking about costs with freight, i think I'm going to try to do it myself. I've set a few of these bikes up & after looking at the harness diagram, I reckon I can work it out. Duncan

 Re: GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
Hi Duncan, I sent you an E Mail the other day, Did you get it? I don't have a diagram on what I remove, I do so many of them that I just do it by memory, I will help you any way I can George

 GSXR 1000 K8 Loom
I run an LCR Roadrace sidecar that I'm setting up with stock K8 ECU & loom, Logbox & WRT. We run the starter & charging system. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a basic loom to make it run without all the extra wiring I won't use, or can someone tell me what I can get rid of without causing any running problems. Will I still need to fit resistors somewhere for stuff like sidestand, clutch etc? Anyone done this before? Thanks Duncan
