Re: Wideband O2 and Heatwrap |
Or just loose the heat wrap. It does nothing other than adding the weight. |

Re: Wideband O2 and Heatwrap |
Hello
I have a gsxr1000 k9 and the down pipes and collector are wrapped with heat wrap.
This means that the link pipe is getting quite a bit hotter than normal.
Could this damage the Zeitronix ZT-3 Wideband O2 sensor?(that is placed in the linkpipe)
And is this old school tuning still applicable on a modern sportsbike?
Thanks Wim
The heatwrap won't do anything directly for horsepower, but it helps fart the heat out the back instead of radiating against the engine. It will also stop you from melting fairings on the dyno.
For the 02 sensor, excessive heat can definitely damage it. For your own good feelings, make a heatsink for it out of a piece of copper plate. It's what we do for turbo applications..
