Re: Engine Data Released |
| Does this work for the Gen2 Hayabusa ? Last night in Engine Data, the temp wasn't reading, and also the TPS wasn't reading... I'm not sure why... Can anyone help ?
Thanks in advance...

Re: Engine Data Released |
No, coolant temp is not enabled, additional parameters in the Kawasaki protocol chew up bandwidth and slow down the data rate so we have restricted it to the core parameters useful for tuning. Resistor approach is probably the best approach for now |

Re: Engine Data Released |
| Hi John, Yes engine data is available for the 08 ZX14, there is an Engine Data button on the main screen in WRT when you open a bin file. The engine data protocol for this model is quite different to the Suzuki's that you would be used to and we only have the essential data for tuning currently enabled, i.e. TPS, RPM, IAP etc.
Is the coolant temp data available? He noted it just reads zero.
Basically, this is a drag bike application for bracket racing. Warm up enrichment can sometimes throw off the bikes if it changes the fueling throughout the pass or from one round to another.
A popular technique is to use a resistor to fool the sensor, or sometimes use two different resistors, one for cold start, and the other to be above the warm-up threshold.
If possible, something to think about in the future in support of racing applications would be to make an option to fix the Coolant temp values to a value that corresponds to ~195F ( 90C). Even better would be to have it go to ~60F (16C) for a certain time or number of counts and then fix at 90C. The latter is obviously much more of a programming burden. |

Re: Engine Data Released |
| Is there a readable engine data stream for the 08 zx14's?
I have a friend who is building a dragbike and using a WRT flash interface and zx14.bin.
He was (as was I) under teh impression that the sensor data would be available to read for troubleshooting. |

Re: Engine Data Released |
| Ok great thanks for letting me know. |

Re: Engine Data Released |
| Thank you Justin!
The problem is solved! |
| |
Re: Engine Data Released |
| I press the start.
At first write initialization and after a few seconds disconnected.
Without error. |
| |
Re: Engine Data Released |
| Pasis, are you getting the same error message? Invalid string. What happens if you try to start the engine data again, does it fail with the same error message? |

Re: Engine Data Released |
I finally got all the parts for my B-King last week and fired it up this weekend.
Some bugs/problems related to trying to use Stock O2 "logic" in ECU and a loose coupling in the Cordona "ECU-Editor" kit at first.
Flashed to use Wideband O2 signal ("closed loop" deactivated) and removed the Quickshifter/harness completely.
The bike runs well but no actual testing done as it started to snow... again!!!
But:
I noticed that Engine data did not work.
Just throws an exception.
"Invalid string..." or something like that. I have to check/verify the actual error message later.
BTW:
"Connect to Engine" works fine in EcuEditor.
I also noticed that as long as you do *not* use bin file configuration (unify fuel/ignition) the resulting bin-files can be read/written by both WRT and EcuEditor.
I faced the same problem. IN EE works in WRT not. Yet checked healtech OBD, it also works. |

Re: Engine Data Released |
| Hi, just open the Engine Data screen, then go to the "File"=>"Open Log File" menu item and open up the .wrl log file |
| |
Re: Engine Data Released |
| quick question how do you load a previous wrt file to playback in engine data screen sorry for being a noob just started playing with feature, thxs |

Re: Engine Data Released |
I am trying to track this issue down. I have been unable to replicate on various ECU's and bin files. Any help you can give me on tracking it down would be appreciated.
OK Justin.
This is not a big issue for me though. Just a minor irritation.
I will try to give some more info. Might have something to do with baud rate perhaps
(I have not checked fast baud rate in my bin file. I am using Busa/B-King Gauges).
Now I just tried the playback of the logfiles.
Now, *that* is a nice feature.

Re: Engine Data Released |
Hi, ok good to hear it is working for you now. There is no specific sequence you need to use, however I would generally put the interface in Engine Data mode before starting the engine.
I think there must be a sequence to follow, or a bug that maybe "sneaks" in/out during quite frequent updates.
This weekend I fixed a problem with the pin 59 (MS0/1) connection and was not able to connect to engine data after fixing this.
Tried several times.
Worked perfect in ECU editor though.
There I could verify that I could switch beween MS0 and MS1. |

Re: Engine Data Released |
Do you have any more details on the Engine Data Error, i have not been able to replicate it?
Justin:
I will hopefully check tomorrow. The weather here in Norway is soooo baaad.
Update:
Just reflashed the ECU.
Set the switch to middle position.
Started the engine.
Set the switch to "engine data".
Pressed the button for connect/record engine data.
Pressed start.
Voilá!
For some reason I do not understand everything worked OK.
Is there a sequence (like above) that has to be followed? |

Re: Engine Data Released |
| If you are on the dyno it can be useful to have the engine data screen open so you can see the engine data parameters. However it is probably easier to log data with the log box in logging mode (centre position) |
| |
Re: Engine Data Released |
| Is it easier to Dyno tune in Engine Data mode or is running in Log mode better? |
| |
Re: Engine Data Released |
| Very helpful, well done! |

Re: Engine Data Released |
| We have just released v1.1.18 of Woolich Racing Tuned software, this release adds the following features to the Engine Data screen
Scroll the position of playback within the Log File
Stop Playback and resume from the same (or different) positions within the log file
Playback Speed Control |
| |
Re: Engine Data Released |
| Thanks for the feedback guys, yes i plan to add the following to the engine data section
Scrolling for controlling the position of playback
Playback Speed Control
Pause button
2D Graphical Display with switches to turn data channels on/off
Engine Data Playback is currently quite a processor intensive feature, especially with fast baud rate enabled as the screen refreshed 20 times per second, this may be improved with the ability to control the playback speed.
The filtering option is an interesting one, i will give it some thought as to how it may be implemented. |
| |
Re: Engine Data Released |
| Hi Justin, brilliant addition to an already amazing package!!!
Cheers

Re: Engine Data Released |
| This is a very helpful feature! Great work!
Please consider as future enhancements:
-scroll bar advance/retreat. 20-30 mins typical run collection for me
-pause/resume button
-filter(s)/range, would be helpful for diagnosis, if for example you where working an issue between 5-7k rpm. Averaging for that selected data would be helpful too. ie avg afr/timing for 9-10k rpm. |
| |
Re: Engine Data Released |
| Playback feature is pretty neat.
Might be the laptop I am using, but the playback was VERY processor load intensive. Laptop was running at 100% to run it and then started getting choppy.
Perhaps adding a Pause button for playback
A Slider bar to go from start to end and in-between would likely be useful for tuning and/or a 2d graphical output as noted above. Current playback is a bit tough to review for tuning purposes. I found myself looking at the data, then "wishing" I could back up and review a small section.
Just a note, the Wideband 02 option needs to be selected to have the playback display the O2 reading (at least if a WBO2 was used for the log). |
| |
Re: Engine Data Released |
| Hmmm...the playback feature might be a nice addition to the data logging.
Looking forward to downloading when I get home to check it out.
For effective use in drag racing, a 2D graphical display would make it useful, primarily to have the ability to see a group of logged parameters with respect to the relative gears and/or track position. I currently export and open in MS Excel when needed. |

Re: Engine Data Released |
| Good job. Should be useful to have a cursor to move in the file while in play back mode. |
| |
Engine Data Released |
| The first version of Engine Data in WRT has been released. This enables engine data for 2008+ Hayabusa, B-King and 2008 GSXR 1000.
The Engine Data screen records data when you are connected, if you would like to save the data, the log file is saved in the .wrl format which can be used in WRT Autotune.
There is also a playback feature which allows you to log data or open an existing .wrl log file and play back the data and watch the engine data change in realtime. The map position is also displayed on the Fuel and Ignition maps if these are opened while playing back data. |
